Review: Photowall Print Canvas

Remember back in the good ‘ole days when you’d take pictures with your camera, drop off the film, & pay for actual prints to be made?  If you’re like me, your phone is crammed chock-full of pictures that never see the light of day, because you’re waiting to use them “one day”.

I’ve always loved photography, & once my kids were born, they became my favorite subject(s). Though I’ve occasionally printed shots to display in frames around the house, I had an opportunity to do something much cooler with one of my favorite shots, thanks to Photowall!

Photowall offers various photography services, but one of their specialties is canvas prints. I was given the opportunity to receive a custom canvas to review, & let me tell you, they’re awesome! You can check out their main page HERE , and here’s a screenshot of the page.

They have a wide variety of cool, colorful mural designs and patterns to decorate your home with, but one of the instantly appealing services I found was the ability to have a canvas made from one of your own images. I browsed through my collection of pics & pulled up this one to work with:

Uploading your own image to the website is really easy, & you can customize the size to fit whatever wall dimension you need (it also shows you the price for the canvas based on sizing).

Using the sliding scale (seen above), you can decide on the size you’d like, as well as whether you want it framed or not. I’ll admit that here’s where I screwed up. I assumed, despite the site’s explanation, that a frame meant a heavier wood frame, whereas I could otherwise receive my canvas on a wood background. Wrong!

As explained to me by the ever-so-patient service representative, each frame is custom cut to fit the exact size of canvas you choose. If you opt not to include the frame, you end up with only the actual rolled canvas…

MY bad!

But Photowall was extremely helpful in assisting me to reorder the canvas, this time with the frame. Since the frames are considered to be a “do it yourself” task, I was a little concerned that I’d, well, screw it up. 

The frame assembly was actually one of the neatest parts of ordering from Photowall, & I’ll show you how easy it was!

My package arrived impressively fast, & looked like this:

So I’ll admit that I was momentarily intimidated, but… so easy. So, so easy, & kind of fun, too.

The Photowall website includes a video that walks you step-by-step through the process, but it was a cinch.

Flipping the canvas upside down, I measured each side & make a pencil notch.

Then I placed each board of the frame in place, & peeled back the adhesive to allow the canvas to stick to the wood.

Once the boards are in place, each corner gets four screws that can easily be hand-screwed right in.

Stickers, & no tools?  My kind of project!

Assembling the frame literally took six minutes (yup, I timed it), & the canvas was good to go! I hung it in our playroom.

The photo quality of the canvas is outstanding; even blown up many sizes larger, it still looks as immaculately clear as the original photograph.

My experience using PHOTOWALL was a fantastic one, & I’m happy to recommend their products to anyone looking for creative wall decor.
