Happy June, y’all! I’m glad May is over, because it’s always the absolute craziest month when it comes to the end-of-school-year chaos. For some reason, May is when everything school-related is crammed into the span of a few weeks. Car Control- Keeping Kids Occupied When Out & About
Juggling the schedules of six kids requires a LOT of time in the car, schlepping them to and from various activities. Without a babysitter, I’m often required to take the entire crew along with me on various drop-off runs, or to watch games/practices/events. Now back in the early days, I’d scramble to keep the little folks occupied on the fly, which occasionally resulted in a trainwreck of whining, fast-food overload, & moments when you thought you could keep your kids happily occupied while waiting in the car… but not so much. Blood, Sweat & Tears
I had a revelation about (my) experience in parenting that I wanted to share with you; or I thought I did, anyway. Whenever I attempt to share deep, profound thoughts on parenting, that’s when parenting ends up smacking me in the face…. LITERALLY. Curses!
As a parent, you tend to side one of two ways on the issue of cursing: they either try to shield their children from that sort of language, or figure, “F* it! It’s a part of real life!” It’s inevitable that at some point, kids will be exposed to “bad words”. But we try & keep cursing to a minimum around our kids… the same way you try to keep a playroom neat until your kids are old enough to, well, PLAY* in it.
