Sick Day
Hi, everyone! I hope you’re having a better week than I am. In my last post about the weather, I forgot to mention one of the biggest reasons that I hate the colder temperatures. Germs. Ugh. I’m sick!!!! đ It’s almost inevitable here that once the temperature dips, someone ends up sick. And no matter how much disinfectant, Purell, and the like are used, it’s difficult to prevent illness from spreading to at least a few people here in the house. This past week, #s 5 and 6 were sick with terrible colds. There’s nothing worse than a wee baby hacking away, cold and miserable. Unless you’re the mom hacking away, cold…

Quirky Cleaning
Usually, our home runs like a well-oiled machine. Or it did, until #6 was born. But I don’t blame him personally, because he’s the only person in the house under the age of ten who I seem to get along with on a daily basis. But it’s safe to say that having a new infant in the house has (temporarily ) derailed what was once a carefully coordinated household effort. So I spent some time earlier today trying to “analyze and troubleshoot my productivity efforts within the domestic realm in order to revitalize industry and redouble efficiency standards.” You know. Nanny Wanted
It seems in today’s age that large families are not the norm anymore. The “Large Family” phenomenon from past years has been abandoned as most couples try not to exceed the parent to child ratio rule. Once there are more kids than there are parents, you cross over into an alternate universe- -A sudden plunge into a world where sanity and order vanish like a puff of smoke. While I’m busy bringing home the bacon (diapers, milk, vodka, etc…), my wife is home holding down the fort. Pondering her daily struggles, it dawned on me that something has been missing. How have those who have gone before us managed with so many children? Thanks to the…

The Writing on the Wall
I may joke about having a messy house, but in reality, I’m sort of anal about trying to keep it clean. I remember waaay back when I watched an episode of Jon & Kate + 8 and she was obsessing endlessly about her kitchen floor. I remember thinking, “what’s UP with this cah-razy lady?” Now I get it. It’s not so much about things being sanitary, even though it’s important. But it’s also about control. Maybe Kate (read: ME), couldn’t control the screaming vortex of insanity that life with her toddlers generated, so she scrubbed her floor like nine times a day to get through. I sympathize. And I also don’t, because now she’s…
