Carrots, Pickles & Twinkies: aka “Our Weird Car Game Code”
It all started with a Twinkie. Not the actual sponge cake bar of creamy goodness, mind you, but the shriek of, “TWINKIEEE!!!” triumphantly exclaimed from my backseat. All it took was a single shout of “Twinkie” to put us on the cut-throat roller coaster of competition that is The Car Game. There were no reason for the shout. We were in the car, on the way to dropping #2 off at a friend’s house. # 5 and #6 had come along for the ride. My natural response was, “Where? “Eye”Care For Kids- You Do Too, So Schedule Regular Vision Checks
Confession: I had laser-eye surgery when I was 24, but before that, I was extremely nearsighted as a kid. I started wearing glasses around 8, and probably needed them long before that. For kids nowadays, wearing glasses is so not a big deal. There are many cool, trendy frames to choose from; glasses are almost like a fashion accessory. But back to the 80s. I’ve lived here almost my entire life, yet I’m still indignant that I must suffer through all four seasons. (Well, that’s not entirely true. I can deal with three out of four of them. Winter, not so much.) Here’s why I loathe the snow: 1. PANIC PEOPLE I hadn’t heard the forecast for this week’s snow, but I caught on quickly when I went…

That Bites!
You know those silly, hypothetical questions that you’d ask each other to pass the time? Things like, “For a million dollars, would you… run naked down the highway?” “For 10K, would you eat 12 slugs?” Well, today I learned that I’d be willing to dig through someone else’s mouse-infested trash for…. $275. Let me start off by saying that if you’re one of the genetically gifted minority that produced offspring with impeccably straight teeth, then gets to steppin’, because you probably won’t fully appreciate the angst of the orthodontic process. I don’t mean wearing braces, although it’s not very fun. I mean paying for someone else to wear them. Braces…
