Can You Repeat The Question?
I generally consider myself to be a well educated, intellectually curious person; at least until I had children. I’m the type that LOVES Trivial Pursuit, but can never find anyone to play with me. I gleefully shout out the answers on Jeopardy. I read books on obscure subjects and/or people. Confession: sometimes talking to my kids makes me feel genuinely…. stupid. As any parent knows, kids ask endless questions. The sheer volume alone of queries is enough to overwhelm even the most patient of parents. This Elfin’ Guy…
So it’s over. It’s finally over. I wish I could say that I”m sorry to see it all go- the shreds of wrapping paper, the fake pine tree needles embedded in the carpet, the excess dust that seems to accumulate via the holiday decorations- but I’m NOT. Don’t get me wrong; I loved spending time with the family. I savored the looks of joy and delight on the kids’ faces as they enjoyed their gifts. Horsing Around
As a stay-at-home mom of six, it can be challenging for me to make time to spend quality, one-on-one moments with each of my kids. I find that I occasionally drift into the herd mentality, where I focus on the basic feeding, care & transport of the entire group. But I know that kids not only crave that solo time with their parent(s), but need it in order to thrive. So a great opportunity came my way recently to spend quality time with #2, via her Girl Scout troop. The troop leaders planned a special getaway weekend- just the moms and the girls.
