TGIF, everyone! As a “mom blogger”, I often receive emails inviting me to review a relevant product. In many cases, I’ve declined, because the product simply wasn’t something I was interested in.
I like to keep my blog content honest and real, yet also have a genuine interest in sharing my no-holds-barred opinion on products that I think are genuinely useful or interesting, particularly to parents.
I want to share with you an item that I was offered to sample -no pay involved*- simply because I’m a mom blogger, and mom bloggers are cool.
*As I’ve stated in my disclaimer, I always offer my honest and unbiased opinion on items that I review.
If I’m asked to review it by the person/company, I will tell you.
And if I’m offered pay to do so, I’ll disclose that to you as well. But regardless, I will always be honest and fair in my review.*
I was recently offered the opportunity to receive the new “mommy version” of a Breakups To Makeup bag. I live under a rock these days (I blame my kids!), so it’s been a looong time since I’ve given any thought to makeup storage.
I’ve kept my makeup in the same poor beaten little bag that someone gave me years ago.
Though once I pondered it… I realized that my own teeny bag just wasn’t cutting it.
Since the bag has been too small, I’ve long let random eyeliner pencils slip out of the bag and into my purse, or even worse, let them slip out of the purse itself and onto my minivan’s floor, rolling endlessly to and from.
At least… until THIS DAY.
Note To Self: Avoid waterproof eyeliner, for JUST this reason…
A bag of adequate size is clearly a priority. I’m not a fan of those cheap clear plastic makeup cases that they sell in most drugstores, yet, I’m also not the type to spend more money on a higher-end bag.
Enter… Mommy’s Makeup Bag-
my bag, my rules.
This bag is the newest mom-version of the popular cosmetic bag company Breakups To Makeup.
I loved this bag right away because after years of cramming all of my makeup in a tiny, ill-fitting bag, this bag was roomy enough for all items. I like the casual look of the canvas, but what I found to be really cool was the message.
This bag is one of many in the Breakups To Makeup line, but they all have a witty and/or quirky slogan. Here are a few additional examples from the company website:

I love that unique approach! Having an empowering and funny message sets these bags apart from your run-of-the-mill makeup bag.
And that is the point of designer Angelique Velez’s vision: to create not just useful makeup accessories, but to use them as a vehicle for personal expression.
My only concern initially was the color; I was afraid a light canvas would be prone to stains and smudges.
I can say with surprise that after using it for over a week, I have yet to notice a single mark. Some bags also come in black, red, etc. which would minimize any potential staining.
Where To Buy:
Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Amazon.com, and of course the company website, www.breakupstomakeup.com
Price:
Ranges from $15 to $26, depending on site.
Bottom Line:
It’s fun! Makeup is something most of us end up hauling around by default; why not make it more interesting?
My Mommy bag was actually noticed by two separate women, which I can safely say has never, ever happened to me when I’ve previously pulled my makeup bag out in public.
And a fun fact: this particular bag concept was created when the company’s CEO was pregnant with her now newborn son. I love the idea of moms being included in the need for a fun makeup bag!
